What is Hepatitis B?

Hepatitis B is a serious infection caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV) that leads to liver inflammation.

  • This disease, which is a widespread public health problem worldwide, can cause acute (short-term) or chronic (long-term) infections. Chronic Hepatitis B infection can lead to serious complications such as cirrhosis, liver failure, and liver cancer over time.
